Wardha Hindi University revokes students’ suspension, ETEducation
Wardha: The Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University (MGIHU), Wardha, has withdrawn the expulsion and suspension of students who had alleged corruption and administrative irregularities in the institution. The decision comes after the Nagpur bench of the Bombay high court warned it would pass orders against the university administration if the action was not revoked.
MGIHU has been facing a series of controversies in recent years. In January 2024, the university had expelled or suspended five students — Rajneesh Kumar Ambedkar (diploma student), Ramchandra (research scholar), Rajesh Kumar Yadav (research scholar), Niranjan Kumar (research scholar) and Vivek Mishra (undergraduate student). These students had allegedly posted adverse remarks on social media against the appointment of then officiating vice-chancellor. The high court later observed that the university’s decision against the students, taken within hours, violated the principles of natural justice.
In a related matter, the high court, while hearing a petition filed by prof Karunyakar, had set aside the officiating VC’s appointment.
Niranjan Kumar and Vivek Mishra got relief after they immediately approached the court. Yadav and Ramchandra, who did not initially get relief, filed petitions in November 2024 through advocate Nilesh Singh Gadhe. On December 19, 2025, the court warned of passing orders against the university if the suspensions were not withdrawn. Subsequently, the administration submitted an affidavit stating that the expulsions and suspensions have been revoked. Based on the affidavit, the court passed its order on December 22, 2025.
