Uttar Pradesh Launches First Public Breastfeeding Room for Mothers at Baraut Bus Depot, ET Education
BAGHPAT: The establishment of breastfeeding booths at public places will bring to life the objectives of Mission Shakti, which aims to ensure safety, security, and self-reliance of women. By raising awareness and creating a secure environment, Mission Shakti strives to transform women’s lives and build an inclusive and empowered society.
To honor motherhood and prioritize infant health, Baghpat Administration has launched an important initiative titled ‘Aanchal’. As part of this initiative, Uttar Pradesh’s first breastfeeding room is being set up at the Baraut Bus Depot which will be inaugurated by District Magistrate Asmita Lal on Monday, 09 June 2025.
This breastfeeding room is being established under the operation of Little Fit Foundation led by Dr. Abhinav Tomar, with support from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF. Notably, it is being constructed using recycled materials — 350 kg of plastic, 170 kg of iron scrap, and 15 kg of wood — making it an environmentally conscious facility.
The aim of this initiative is to provide women with a safe, clean, and dignified space to breastfeed in public areas. It will not only enhance infant nutrition and immunity but also facilitate greater mobility for women in terms of education and employment opportunities.
DM Asmita Lal stated, “The health of mother and child is a collective responsibility of society. The ‘Aanchal’ initiative is a strong step towards honoring motherhood and promoting women empowerment.”
This initiative is expected to strengthen social mindset transformation, gender equality and the spirit of family support.
