
UP secondary schools to have 238 days’ teaching in 2026, ETEducation
Lucknow: UP secondary schools will see 238 days of teaching in the upcoming New Year. There will be 112 holidays, including summer vacations and Sundays and 15 days of state board examinations.
Issuing instructions regarding holidays in schools, secondary education director Mahendra Dev stated that there will be 28 holidays for different festivals. Dev further asked all district inspectors of schools (DIOS) to organise discussions and seminars for a minimum of one hour to celebrate birth anniversaries of great personalities, including revolutionaries of the country’s freedom movement and famous social reformers.
During the discussions, teachers will shed light on their personality, achievements, and inspiring events related to their lives that guided society and the nation. In case of a holiday, such events will be organised 1 day before the holiday. On national festivals, programmes will be organised in schools, Dev said.
He further stated that teachers will, only in special circumstances, get a 3-day leave, at the discretion of the principal or head teacher, based on local needs. Condolence meetings, the order stated, will only be held upon the death of teachers, staff, or students working in the schools. In special circumstances, condolence meetings will be held during the last period.
