UP govt seeks Deloitte support to boost ITI students’ placement, ETEducation
Lucknow: Prioritising placements for students enrolled in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), the state govt has sought support from Deloitte. Vocational education, skill development, and entrepreneurship minister Kapil Dev Agarwal on Wednesday asked officials to expand industry partnerships and organise monthly placement drives in every district with support from Deloitte to ensure employment for youth.
Chairing a review meeting, Agarwal said the UP Skill Development Mission (UPSDM) is making steady progress towards realising the ‘one trillion-dollar’ economy vision. Instructing officials to widely publicise success stories of ITI graduates who secured jobs in leading national companies, Agarwal said, “Wide publicity of such ITI graduates will encourage more youngsters to enrol in ITIs, pursue courses of their interest, and gain opportunities for both employment and entrepreneurship.”
He emphasised that close coordination with industry should be established in every district, facilitating industry visits and training programmes aligned with current market needs. To ensure this, the UPSDM will prepare an industry visit calendar and a structured timetable for students. He further asked officials to update the Skill Mitra portal regularly with placement data and ensure that all training programmes remain demand-driven and industry-relevant.
All nodal ITI institutes will conduct monthly placement drives on the 21st of every month, with Deloitte India serving as the key partner to ensure active industry participation, he said.
