Teacher suspended for showing up drunk, 4 officials get show-cause notices, ETEducation
Khargone: A teacher was suspended after a video emerged showing him arriving at a govt school in Dongar Chichli of Khargone district allegedly under the influence of alcohol and behaving inappropriately with students. Also, show-cause notices were issued to four educational officials for failing to promptly inform senior authorities about the incident.
Khargone tribal welfare assistant commissioner Iqbal Hussain Adil told TOI that collector Bhavya Mittal on Friday suspended Govt Integrated Middle School headmaster of Keshav Sharde. Show-cause notices were issued to block education officer Vishnu Patidar, jan shikshak Shailesh Verma, block resource coordinator Ranjeet Arya and cluster principal Lokendra Singh Tomar for not bringing the matter to the notice of senior officials within the stipulated time.
The incident took place on Jan 6. Sharde was caught on camera speaking incoherently, issuing threats to students and causing disruption on the school premises. After a video of the incident surfaced, collector Mittal ordered an inquiry and sought a detailed report.
A viral video shows Sharde entering the classroom and slurring. He was telling the students that he would not even spare his own son and no one could harm him as he was on leave. When the students started running out in fear, he chased them and said that the school period was still on.
