Tasmap Is An Amazing AI-Powered Map Tool – And It’s Free
Tasmap is trying to create an alternative to Google Maps, and they sure have made a good start.
It’s easy to use it manually to create your own maps, and the AI feature is pretty amazing.
I asked it to create a map of all the locations mentions in the Star Trek series, and it created a map and an accompanying narrative.
It could be useful in class by having students write about the areas on the map where they or AI place icons. The developer assures me they can do this, though a little differently from other map-making tools. In others, you click on the icon and then write next to it. Here, you write the text and then link to it. However, I’ve been having trouble understanding how to actually do that. If you can figure it out, then it could be helpful in lessons.
I’m still adding it to The Best Map-Making Sites On The Web.
Addendum: Mapscroll has a few similar features.
