Row over video of kids being asked religious questions in school, ETEducation
Varanasi: A controversy erupted after an alleged video of a school in the district surfaced on social media. The video shows 5-6-year-old children in school uniform being asked questions related to religion and God, to which the children respond. After the matter came to light, the district administration ordered an investigation.
The video is of Azamgarh Public School, operating at checkpost Kotila in the Rani ki Sarai police station area of Azamgarh district. Although the teacher’s face is not visible in the video, the voice teaching the children is clearly recorded.
The school is reportedly associated with Samajwadi Party‘s legislative council member (MLC) Shah Alam, alias Guddu Jamali, and the school’s director is Mohammad Noman.
The school’s principal reportedly said that action will be taken only after speaking with the teacher.
Azamgarh BSA, Rajiv Pathak said that the school management confirmed that it is a video from the school and those were nursery class children whose video is going viral.
The district magistrate has constituted teams for an investigation and action will depend on the report, officials said.
