
Rajasthan education minister announces merger of 312 schools, ETEducation
Jaipur: Education and panchayati raj minister Madan Dilawar Wednesday announced that 155 senior secondary schools (Class 1 to 12) in the state with 25 students or fewer would be merged with the schools next to them. Similarly, 157 primary schools (Class 1 to 8) in the state with 5 students or fewer would be merged with the schools next to them. He said this will be implemented from the next academic session.He said school buildings with ‘zero’ enrolment will also be merged. “These buildings will be renovated, and I have instructed the district collectors to see how those buildings could be properly utilised,” said Dilawar. He added improving the staffing pattern in schools to avoid the imbalance in the teacher-student ratio.
He also said the state govt has laid the foundation stone for India’s first Govt Girls’ Sainik Schools in Bikaner and Sikar. “Admission for girls in these schools will soon commence, starting from the next academic year. The principals of these schools will be retired military officers,” he said. He said there are plans to open such schools in Kota, Ajmer, and Bharatpur as well.
He added, “We have promoted approximately 50,000 officers and employees in the education department. Very soon, we will promote 21,000 more employees. Officials have been asked to complete DPCs up to 2025-2026.”
On the death of a 9-year-old student at Jaipur’s Neerja Modi School, Dilawar said, “Our team is conducting an investigation. As soon as we receive the investigation report, we will promptly make positive decisions that are in the public interest.” A day after the student, Amayra Kumar’s death at the school premises, the education department Sunday formed a five-member committee to investigate the death.
