Chennai: Higher education department on Wednesday appointed professor V Kumaresan as registrar in charge for Anna University. Kumaresan was the university’s academic courses director.

The university’s syndicate had on Saturday removed registrar J Prakash , affiliation director V R Giri Dev and other officials over a case by Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) in the ghost faculty issue.

The ghost faculty issue revolved around more than 1,000 faculty members of the university who were working in multiple colleges at the same time in 2023-24 and 2024-25.
