
Prof Ramakant Pandey appointed Vice Chancellor of Uttarakhand Sanskrit University, ETEducation
Haridwar: Professor Ramakant Pandey, director of Jaipur campus of the Central Sanskrit University, was appointed vice-chancellor of the Uttarakhand State University, Haridwar on Wednesday.The appointment was announced by the state governor Lt. Gen. (retired) Gurmit Singh, who is also chancellor of the university.
Prof. Dinesh Chandra Shastri, the outgoing vice-chancellor, told TOI, “I would return to my original post of a professor of Veda at Gurukul Kangri University. I am satisfied with the work I have done as the university vice-chancellor.”
Professor Pandey has administrative experience of about 13 years.He has worked as a professor and senior professor for 14 years and has written 65 books and 150 research papers. He has participated in more than 50 conferences, workshops and organised the staging of Sanskrit plays in England and Ireland.
“I will try to do my best to popularise Sanskrit, which is the second official language of Uttarakhand,” he said. “Based on my experience at Central Sanskrit University in Delhi, I will try to promote Sanskrit education regular and distance learning. While I was in Delhi, I was instrumental in getting 1.5 lakh pages of study material for Sanskrit.There were over 16000 students in distance learning in the university.”
