Principal booked for assaulting student over water dispute, ETEducation
Kanpur: A principal of a private school in Kalpi area of Jalaun was booked for allegedly using abusive language and hitting a Class IV student from a scheduled caste for taking water from a pot.
The student sustained injuries on his ear and leg. On returning home he informed his father about the incident. The boy’s father alleged that Kalpi police, instead of filing a report, pressured him to sign a paper for settlement. On Tuesday, he approached the SP. On Wednesday, on the orders of SP Durgesh Kumar, a case was filed against the school principal under the sections for assault and the SC/ST Act.
As per the complaint, on Aug 30, the boy was drinking water at school when the principal’s daughter tried to snatch the water container from his hand, but he refused. The principal, who was standing nearby, used abusive language and started hitting the boy with a stick. The boy was taken to the CHC for treatment. The principal claimed that the accusations were fase and he had only scolded the two children fighting while drinking water.
Kalpi police inspector Parmahans Tiwari stated that a case has been registered against the principal and an investigation is underway. He added that initially, the settlement was reached with the consent of both parties.
School manager Shivalal Verma mentioned that there was a dispute between two students and a settlement was reached between both the parties. He added that the accusations were false.
