Maharashtra’s State Council of Education Research and Training announces school competition for innovative learning techniques, ETEducation
Mumbai: A new statewide competition named Rangotsav has been launched to encourage schools to develop innovative experiential learning techniques, modules, and activities. The competition, which is for standards three to eight, aims to engage students and teachers in creative educational methods that enhance understanding and participation.
All govt schools in the state are required to participate and is open for all mediums and management. Each school must create and submit an 8-10 minute video showcasing a unique learning technique centered around any of the four core themes: arts, sports, toy-based learning, or storytelling. The last date for video submissions is Sept 30.
Tushar Mhatre, a govt school teacher from Raigad, gave an example. His school uses a hopscotch game to teach fractions, where students jump onto numbered squares representing fraction answers. This game-based method is similarly adapted to teach angles and parallel lines by replacing numbers with degrees and angle measures, making abstract concepts more tangible and engaging for students.
According to a circular issued by the State Council of Education Research and Training (SCERT), Rangotsav is designed to instill important values such as unity, personal initiative, discipline, and self-motivation among students statewide.
Submissions will be evaluated by District Institutes of Education and Training with local education department officials. Top 24 teams will be invited to Pune to present their work at SCERT headquarters.
