Maharashtra to examine hostage-taker Rohit Arya’s dealings with education deptartment, ETEducation
Mumbai: Maharashtra school education minister Dada Bhuse said on Friday that he has sought a report on the work that the company of Rohit Arya, the man who was shot dead by the police following a hostage standoff in Mumbai, carried out with the state’s education department.
Arya was killed on Thursday after a 3-hour siege at RA Studio in Powai, where he took 17 children and two adults as hostages on the pretext of holding auditions for a web series. The police said Arya had meticulously planned the operation, installing motion sensors and a transparent plastic partition inside the studio to monitor the movement of anyone trying to enter it. The sensors were linked to his mobile phone, said officials in the know.
According to police officials, Arya had been planning the act for several days. However, he was unaware of a rear entry to the building.
