
Lucknow University suspends five students for ragging, ETEducation
Lucknow: Lucknow University has suspended five students on charges of ragging.
The decision was taken on the basis of complaint filed on Aug 18 at the UGC anti-ragging helpline.
According to university officials, a show-cause notice was issued to the accused students on Aug 21, directing them to submit written explanations within three days.
The replies, submitted on Aug 25 and Aug 26, were found to be false and beyond facts. As a result, the university suspended the students from all academic and campus related activities with immediate effect for the duration of the investigation. Their allotted hostel rooms have been cancelled and entry to the university campus has been restricted.
The university has directed the suspended students to give their explanations within three working days to chief proctor’s office, failing which strict disciplinary action will follow.
