Letter sparks row at Calicut University, ETEducation
Kozhikode: The Calicut University academic council meeting on Wednesday witnessed heated exchanges over the directive issued by the university registrar to the heads of the department of History and School of Drama asking for details of the programmes planned on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on Thursday.
The letter stated that the vice-chancellor has entrusted the two departments with implementing the directive from the office of the governor and asked them to submit a blueprint of the proposed programmes.
SFI state committee member Mohammed Sadik raised the issue at the academic council meeting, declaring that the outfit would not allow conduct of any such programmes.
Syndicate members Khaleemudheen and others also supported the stand and they came to the well of the meeting hall leading to heated exchanges. After the meeting, SFI activists attempted to block the vehicle of the vice-chancellor and later burned him in effigy in protest.
