Left professor bodies oppose govt pension plan, ETEducation
Kolkata: The Left university teachers’ wings, including JUTA, CUTA, and RBUTA, on Tuesday opposed a state pension proposal.
The proposal would provide 75% of the total pension as “provisional” while the remaining 25% would be paid by the respective university or through other options.
The units said: “Will the remaining 25% depend on the govt’s charity?” After a press conference at JU, leaders of the Left teachers’ bodies also said the move was an attempt by the state to curb university autonomy.
