Koundinya Educational Trust to award scholarships to 500 students in Andhra Pradesh, ETEducation
GUNTUR: Education remains the most powerful tool to bridge economic and social inequalities in society, said Dr E V Narayana, Founder and Chairman of Koundinya Educational Trust.
Speaking at a press conference held on Friday morning at the SHO Conference Hall in Brodipet, Dr Narayana stressed that extending quality education to underprivileged and weaker sections is crucial for inclusive growth. He urged service organisations to join hands with governments to accelerate the pace of social development.
The Koundinya Educational Trust, established in 2005 by Dr Narayana along with three associates, began its journey with a modest fixed deposit of ₹1 lakh in a bank. The interest generated from this corpus has been consistently utilised to support meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, irrespective of caste or religion.
Over the past two decades, the fixed deposit has grown substantially to ₹2.25 crore. Through prudent management, the Trust has disbursed scholarships amounting to ₹2.10 crore to deserving poor students across both Telugu states.
Dr Narayana announced that this year, scholarships worth approximately ₹20 lakh will be distributed to around 500 students on Sunday, January 4. The event, aimed at recognising and encouraging academic talent among underprivileged youth, will commence at 9:00 am at the Koundinya IAS Academy building in Koundinyapuram, located on the outskirts of Venigandla village in Pedakakani mandal, Guntur district.
The beneficiaries include students pursuing education from Class 10 to PhD level.
The scholarship distribution programme will be graced by Union Minister of State for Communications Dr Pemmasani Chandrasekhar as the chief guest. Other dignitaries expected to attend include Rajya Sabha Member Paka Venkata Satyanarayana, State Minister for Revenue, Stamps & Registration Anagani Satya Prasad, Ponnur MLA Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar, former Minister and Sattenapalli MLA Kanna Lakshminarayana, and members of the Trust.
Dr Narayana reiterated the Trust’s commitment to empowering meritorious students from humble backgrounds, enabling them to achieve their full potential and contribute meaningfully to society.
