
Kids protest teacher’s frequent fights, get her transferred 18th time, ETEducation
Abohar: A teacher was transfered out of the govt senior secondary school in Balluana village of Fazilka district on Wednesday, after students and their parents protested over her frequent fights with school staff and even students.
School principal Babu Singh Dhaliwal said the teacher had joined the scool just three months ago, and the latest transfer was her 18th. He admitted to her not getting along with colleagues, and students being upset with her behaviour.
During the protest, students and their parents said the school’s environment had deteriorated ever since the Hindi teacher’s joining. They alleged that the teacher frequently quarrelled with school staff, employees, and even them, disrupting their studies. According to students, the teacher even called the police once or twice a week, disrupting their studies.
When contacted, Fazilka district education officer (secondary) Ajay Sharma said a complaint had been received against the teacher by the principal and keeping in view the protest by the students, the teacher had been temporarily shifted to the govt school in nearby Khubban village. He said the matter had been reported to director public instructions (secondary education) Punjab for reference and further action.
The trigger for Wednesday’s protest was the teacher’s act of bullying a girl student. On Wednesday, when the teacher came to class, she scolded the girl without any reason. According to the student, the teacher had yelled at her on earlier occasionstoo. The students then informed her family, after which the students and their families began protesting at the school.
Upon receiving information, a team from Fazilka Sadar police station also arrived reached the school. It was the principal who sounded the DEO about the situation in the school.
