Jharkhand Students Push for Biotechnology Inclusion in JET Amidst JPSC Review, ETEducation
Ranchi: In view of the demand raised by students for the inclusion of biotechnology in the Jharkhand Eligibility Test (JET), the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) is studying various provisions, said officials on Monday.
Congress state general secretary Alok Dubey, along with professors and students of biotechnology, met higher education minister Sudivya Kumar Sonu and rural development minister Deepika Pandey on Monday. They requested them to ensure that biotechnology is added to JET, which would be held for the posts of assistant professors and admissions in Ph.D programmes in universities and colleges.
Further, the delegation also demanded that new posts should be created for subjects like biotechnology, microbiology, and biochemistry. They said that neglecting some subjects would impact the future of their students and researchers.
Pandey said, “I had a talk with JPSC chairman L Khiyangte, who stated that some subjects have been left out in JET and JPSC is looking into the issue.”
JPSC official said, “We received the request for biotechnology and other subjects, including library sciences, in connection with JET. The officer concerned has been asked to study the UGC norms.”
JPSC issued an advertisement on September 9 about JET exam stating that application forms would be accepted from September 16 to October 6.
