Inclusive education gets a tech boost at DAC, ETEducation
Thiruvananthapuram: The Different Art Centre (DAC) marked a milestone in inclusive education with the launch of an innovative robotics training programme for people with learning disabilities, in collaboration with Srishti Innovative, Technopark. Titled RoboSpark, the initiative was inaugurated amid excitement and curiosity as friendly robots captivated participants and guests.
Robots named RoboDog, Vandana and Medha made a lively entry into the centre, jumping, running, narrating stories, shaking hands with children, presenting roses to dignitaries and even dancing. Their performance created an atmosphere of joy and wonder among people with disabilities.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Sanjeev Nair, former CEO of Technopark, who stressed the need for inclusive employment. In his inaugural address, he said that beyond enabling individuals with disabilities to showcase their talents, organisations must take responsibility for creating at least one job opportunity for them in every office. He commended the Different Art Centre for being a dynamic hub of empowerment and opportunity for the community.
As part of its mission to create sustainable employment opportunities, the Different Art Centre is launching a three-month robotics training programme under the supervision of Dr Anil Kumar Nair, director – Intervention, Different Art Centre. The first batch includes 20 children. The initiative aims to equip individuals with future-ready skills and open new pathways to technology-driven careers.
