Gurgaon secures 3rd rank in Mission Buniyaad, 1.6k qualify for next phase, ETEducation
Gurgaon: The district has secured third position in the state-level assessment of the Mission Buniyaad programme, reflecting steady improvement in learning outcomes in govt schools. Hisar topped the rankings, followed by Sirsa, while Gurgaon recorded 1,637 students qualifying for the next phase of the programme.
Education officials and teachers said the results indicate that sustained efforts to strengthen foundational learning in govt schools are yielding results. Teachers said structured mentoring and regular evaluations have helped students, particularly at the middle-school level, develop stronger subject fundamentals.
Launched by the Haryana govt in 2022, Mission Buniyaad is a foundational learning programme that focuses on improving core competencies in mathematics, science and language, while identifying meritorious students for advanced academic training and competitive examinations. Through model schools, digital classrooms and regular assessments, the programme focuses on identifying academic potential at an early stage.
At the individual level, three students from Gurgaon performed prominently in the state rankings. Sohan Thakur of Sushant Lok Model Sanskriti School secured the 44th rank, Ansh Kumar from Sector 14 Govt Middle School ranked 55th, and Ichha from a gt school in Pataudi secured the 65th position.
Several govt schools in the district also performed strongly. The Govt School in Sector 4/7 recorded the highest number of qualifiers in Gurgaon with 41 students, followed by Kadipur with 37 and Garhi Harsaru with 36.
The education department also announced that a Mission Buniyaad residential centre will be set up in Gurgaon and is expected to become operational in 2026. The facility will provide hostel accommodation along with focused academic training in a disciplined environment. “The centre would support students requiring sustained academic guidance, particularly from rural and semi-urban areas,” a teacher said, calling it a “game changer”.
