Gumla: The district administration is working on a plan to soon introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for new age learning in the classrooms of state run govt schools and has begun training the officials of district education department for it.

District superintendent of education (DSE) Noor Alam Khan, after attending a training programme in SS+2 CM School of Excellence Gumla on Monday, said, “At first, the teachers of secondary and higher secondary schools, block resource and cluster resource persons and information and communication technology (ICT) instructors are being trained in AI.

They in turn will train students of Class IX, X, XI and XII to use these tools for learning assistance.” There are 78 secondary and 38 senior secondary schools across 12 blocks of the district.

Gumla deputy commissioner (DC) Prerna Dixit said, “This is not just a technology project — it is about giving our children hope, skills, and confidence to compete with the best in the world. AI can bridge the gap between rural schools and advanced urban education systems. Also, students will explore AI as a tool to learn faster, translate difficult topics into their local language, and even practice problem-solving interactively. Schools will save time and improve outcomes by adopting smarter, technology-driven methods of learning.”

Educationists believe that this step will not just improve marks but also spark curiosity and innovation among children, opening doors to careers in science and technology and research endeavours. Though the teachers are being trained to prepare lesson plans, giving home work to students, there is no time frame at present to start it in classroom levels, officials said.
