Gujarat announces sports, yoga training for 33k govt teachers, ETEducation
Ahmedabad: The state govt has announced a large-scale initiative to provide sports and yoga training to 33,220 teachers from govt schools, with a total budget allocation of Rs 5.31 crore. This programme was introduced in response to the long-standing absence of permanent sports teachers in many schools.
Under the first phase, three teachers from each district will be trained as master trainers, creating a total of 1,991 master trainers across the state. These master trainers will then be responsible for imparting training to teachers from Classes 1 to 8 in their respective districts, ensuring that at least one teacher from every school receives sports and yoga instruction.
The master trainers’ training is scheduled to take place from Dec 9 to 11, followed by block-level teacher training from Dec 16 to 18. After completion, trained teachers will pass on the knowledge to other staff members in their schools.
These activities will be carried out on Saturdays, and participants will receive a training completion certificate after attending three days of sessions, calculated at 5 hours per day. The initiative aims to strengthen physical education and promote healthy lifestyles among students.
