
Governor Promotes Kung Fu and Tai Chi in Uttar Pradesh Schools Following National Success, ETEducation
Lucknow: Winning team of players and officials of the Indian Tai Chi team met Governor Anandiben Patel who assured that Kung Fu and Tai Chi martial arts would be promoted in UP schools and universities.
UP Kung Fu Association general secretary Gyan Prakash Tripathi said the 9th World Tai Chi competition was held in Taiwan from Oct 24 to 26 and nine Indian players won seven medals, including two gold, three silver and two bronze, while UP players performed brilliantly and bagged one gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
Governor congratulated Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti Language University student Nirbhay Raj, who won gold, silver medalists Khushi Tripathi and Sanskriti and bronze medal winner Shruti Singh, Manju and Krishna Kumar. Former Prasar Bharati chairman Navneet Sehgal congratulated the Kung Fu team on their victory.
International Kung Fu Federation’s grandmaster Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Indian team manager Rajendra Kumar Gautam and Indian team coordinator Shishupal Singh presented a book on Tai Chi published by Harvard University and an oil painting of Bodhidharma, founder of Kung Fu, to the governor.
Boxing: Lucknow’s Ragini Upadhyay, Anamika and Sonia win their respective bouts in the semifinals and reached final level in the ongoing State Women Boxing championship at KD Singh stadium on Tuesday. Para Judo: In junior category UP settled as runner up winning four gold and four bronze medals, while Rajasthan won four gold, two silver and four bronze medals in the 14th National Para Judo Championships being held at Blooming Dales International School, Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan.
