
First woman vice-chancellor in 102-year history, ETEducation
NAGPUR: Nagpur University entered a landmark chapter on Monday with Manali Makarand Kshirsagar’s appointment as its first woman vicechancellor since the institution was founded in 1923.
Maharashtra governor and chancellor Acharya Devvrat made the announcement about Kshirsagar (54), an NU alumna who is currently director-technical and adviser at Nagpur’s Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering.
She holds a PhD in computer science and an MBA in finance and marketing. Kshirsagar is likely to take charge on Wednesday. The governor’s order states that her tenure will be for five years.
Kshirsagar’s elevation is widely viewed as symbolic and strategic a long-awaited milestone that aligns the century-old university with contemporary expectations of inclusive leadership and academic reform.
