The UAE’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) hosted the 2025 New Scholarship Students Forum in Dubai, themed From Global Education to National Impact. The event served as both a send-off and a support platform for Emirati students embarking on international scholarship journeys.
Bringing together students, parents, MoHESR officials, cultural attachés, and academic experts, the forum provided practical guidance on study abroad logistics, from travel and housing to academic procedures and cultural adaptation. It also reaffirmed the Ministry’s long-term strategy to align scholarship programmes with the UAE’s key economic sectors and national priorities.
In his keynote address, His Excellency Dr Mohammed Al Mualla, Undersecretary of MoHESR, highlighted the broader vision behind the initiative. “Scholarships are vital to investing in human capital,” he said. “This forum is a milestone in preparing students for academic and professional success, empowering them to contribute to the nation’s development. It marks the beginning of a transformative journey and equips our students with the tools and support they need to succeed at world-class universities.”
Dr Al Mualla further emphasised MoHESR’s commitment to creating future-ready Emiratis by targeting fields of study that drive knowledge-based economic growth.
Currently, 592 students are enrolled through the National Scholarship Programme across more than 115 prestigious universities in 22 countries. A further 187 students successfully completed their studies during the 2024-2025 academic year, an achievement MoHESR attributes to stronger institutional partnerships and more tailored academic support.
The forum included hands-on workshops and interactive sessions covering everything from scholarship activation procedures to safety, cultural integration, and long-term career planning. Dedicated Q&A sessions for parents underlined the Ministry’s recognition of family involvement as a critical component of student well-being and academic success.
Leading up to the event, cultural attachés conducted a series of virtual seminars to familiarise students and parents with available digital services and overseas support systems. These preparatory steps were a part of MoHESR’s broader effort to ensure a smooth and enriching overseas education experience.
