Dibrugarh, Vietnam universities ink pact to enhance research & innovation, ETEducation
Dibrugarh: In a move to bolster international academic ties, Dibrugarh University and the Faculty of Computer Science, University of Information Technology – VNU-HCM (UIT), Vietnam, have formally signed an MoU.
The agreement, established under the PM-USHA (MERU) initiative, paves the way for a robust partnership focused on student exchange, joint research, and shared innovation.
The signing ceremony, held on Nov 26, saw Dr Nomi Baruah, head of the department of computer science and engineering at Dibrugarh University, represent the Indian institution. This collaboration marks a key step in Dibrugarh University’s internationalisation efforts, creating direct avenues for students and faculty to engage with a leading southeast Asian technological university.
The partnership is designed to facilitate student and faculty exchanges, promote collaborative research projects in computer science and related fields, and establish a deeper level of international academic engagement.
Dibrugarh University vice-chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika hailed the new initiative. “This MoU with UIT is a landmark achievement for us. It aligns perfectly with our vision under the PM-USHA scheme to become a multidisciplinary education and research hub of global standing. The partnership will open up a world of opportunities for our students and researchers, exposing them to international academic practices and cutting-edge developments in computer science,” the VC said.
The collaboration gains further significance as it falls under the ambit of Dibrugarh University’s selection as a Multidisciplinary Education and Research University (MERU). In Feb 2024, the university was chosen under the PM-USHA scheme, receiving a substantial grant of Rs 100 crore to elevate its educational and research infrastructure.
