Dibrugarh teachers begin home visits to help HSLC exam students, ETEducation
Dibrugarh: Teachers across Dibrugarh district started mandatory home visits to students preparing for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations from Monday, following a directive from the district education department. The Assam HSLC (Class X) exams are scheduled from Feb 10 to 27.
The initiative, ordered by Samiron Bora, inspector of schools for Dibrugarh district circle, requires all heads of institutions (HOIs) and teachers to visit HSLC candidates at their homes to provide targeted academic support ahead of the crucial board examinations.
According to the official order issued on Jan 17, the home visits are intended to extend “academic guidance, moral support, and counselling to the students, with special emphasis on their overall academic improvement”. Teachers have been instructed to categorise candidates, identify weak academic areas, and deliver focused, need-based assistance.
“Considering the limited time available before the examination, sincere, systematic, and result-oriented efforts are expected from all concerned,” the order stated.
Teachers must also document their visits photographically and submit evidence to the designated email address, ensuring accountability and monitoring of the programme’s implementation.
The inspector of schools said the initiative addresses concerns about student preparedness and aims to bridge learning gaps before the high-stakes examinations. The personalised approach allows teachers to better understand individual challenges, including those related to home environment, study resources, or subject-specific difficulties.
“This programme will ensure that no student is left behind. Face-to-face interactions at home can reveal obstacles that aren’t visible in the classroom,” Bora added.>
