
Delhi University revokes DUSU joint secretary’s suspension early, ETEducation
New Delhi: Delhi University has revoked the suspension of DUSU joint secretary Deepika Jha a week before the end of the two-month penalty imposed on her for allegedly slapping a teacher.
The suspension, which came into effect on Nov 14, 2025, had followed the recommendations of a committee constituted by the university to inquire into the alleged incident and resulted in her removal as DUSU joint secretary along with restrictions.
The decision to revoke the penalty was communicated through an office order issued by the office of the DU proctor on Wednesday. It stated that “upon considering her request dated 05.01.2026 and observing her conduct and behaviour during the said period, her suspension is revoked w.e.f. 07.01.2026”. The revocation was issued “with the approval of the competent authority”, allowing Jha to resume duties as the DUSU joint secretary.
In Oct last year, Jha was accused of slapping a teacher at Bhim Rao Ambedkar College.
