Cold wave forces closure of primary schools in Bhilwara for two days, ETEducation
Bhilwara: In view of the prevailing cold wave and dense fog, Bhilwara district collector Jasmeet Singh Sandhu Thursday ordered a two-day holiday on Jan 9 and 10 for students of Classes 1 to 5 in all govt and private schools across the district. The decision was taken following a weather department warning and sustained low temperatures over the past week.
The collector warned that strict action will be initiated against schools violating the order under provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005. However, school staff have been directed to report to duty and mark attendance as usual during the holiday period.
Bhilwara has been witnessing intense cold conditions for over a week, with temperatures dipping steadily and fog severely affecting daily life.
Winter vacations in both govt and private schools had recently concluded, and schools were scheduled to reopen from January 6. However, the continuing cold wave and freezing conditions led the district administration to extend relief for primary-level students.
Officials said the situation is being closely monitored and further decisions will be taken depending on weather conditions in the coming days.
