Children locked in school after rabid dog attacks boy in Etawah, ETEducation
In Sundarpur village of Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, fear of a rabid dog led to the lockdown of 85 children at the primary school.
The incident occurred when a black rabid dog attacked a boy named Prashant as he passed through the school’s gate, inflicting deep wounds on his thigh and arm. Villagers immediately took Prashant to the hospital.
After the attack, the dog remained at the school gate, attacking anyone who approached and causing panic among the children.
School principal Vijaya Yadav promptly locked all the children in a room and safely sent them home through the back wall of the school. The younger children were handed over to their parents.
Villager Anuj said that attempts were made to scare the dog away with stones and sticks, but the dog kept returning and was ready to attack anyone.
The principal stated that the dog’s increased aggression made the lockdown necessary for the children’s safety.
After much effort, villagers managed to drive the dog away.
However, an atmosphere of fear persists in the village as the dog remains a potential threat to attack again at any time.
