I had a great day in school today, and here’s how it went:
A student in my ELL class was using her phone. When I asked her 2 put it away, she told me she was texting her mother in Mexico.I jokingly told her to give me phone so I could send mom a text. She gave it & asked me 2 send audio message. When class heard message I sent, EVERYONE asked me 2 do same 🙂

I am now going to make that same opportunity available today to all students in my other classes – if they want, I’ll record a positive message about them on their phone they can send to their parents/guardians. I suspect most will take me up on my offer

Here’s the projected slide students will see today in my next three classes

Interestingly, most students in my other classes are asking me to record video messages. I think that’s because many parents in my Newcomer class are outside of the US, and it might use more data or b more expensive to send video to another country
