
Ludhiana’s Millerganj to get ‘School of Eminence’, ETEducation
Ludhiana: The industrial hub of Millerganj is set to become a beacon for public education as the district prepares to inaugurate its latest School of Eminence (SOE). Designed to accommodate 323 students from Classes IX to XII, the facility is being hailed by officials as one of the finest educational infrastructures in Punjab.
Deputy commissioner Himanshu Jain, following a final progress review, announced that the state-of-the-art campus is ready for its grand inauguration in the “near future”. The SOE Millerganj spans 21 modern, well-designed rooms, shifting away from traditional classroom models toward a high-tech, specialised learning environment.
Academic infrastructure includes specialized laboratories, smart classrooms, and primium finishes. There are seven cutting-edge laboratories, including those for physics, chemistry, and biology, alongside niche facilities for robotics and automation technology (ROT), construction, and apparel. This is besies 10 spacious instructional areas complemented by a modern, well-stocked library. The public works department (PWD) has been directed to ensure premium tile finishing and high-quality aluminum storage systems in all labs to foster an organised learning atmosphere.
Focus on Holistic Wellness
Beyond academics, the school introduces unconventional sports facilities aimed at the all-round development of its students. Terrace badminton court utilises vertical space for outdoor activity. The school has a dedicated table tennis indoor area and a wellness centre, a serene space specifically for yoga and meditation. The campus also features a newly sanctioned, organized parking zone to streamline traffic management, a move approved to ensure student safety and campus efficiency.
‘Eminence’ Network Grows
Millerganj is part of a broader provincial overhaul of the education sector. In total, 16 senior secondary schools in Ludhiana have been selected for upgradation under the School of Eminence scheme. Other operational or upcoming SOEs in the district include urban hubs in Model Town, Jawahar Nagar, Indrapuri, and Bharat Nagar (Girls), regional centres at Doraha, Sahnewal, Samrala, and Khanna (Kishori Lal Jethi), and specialised sites at Mundian Kalan, Sekhewal, Baddowal Cantt, and Division No. 3 (Girls).
“SOE Millerganj is expected to become a statewide model for excellence in school infrastructure and holistic development,” said DC Himanshu Jain.
