Kochi: Providing major relief to the college struggling with staff shortage, state cabinet approved creation of teaching and non-teaching posts at the govt-taken-over Kesari Govt Arts and Science College at North Paravur.

As per the decision, 15 teaching posts will be sanctioned for the college. In addition, six non-teaching posts will be created — senior superintendent (1), librarian grade IV (1), attender (1), night watchman (1) and sweeper-cum-sanitation worker (1).

Cabinet decided that existing surplus permanent teachers from other govt institutions will be redeployed to meet academic requirements, and services of guest lecturers will be utilized if necessary.

According to a senior college official, the decision is expected to strengthen academic and administrative functioning of the college.
