Lucknow: The Association of Private Schools, Uttar Pradesh, has urged the state govt to release pending fee reimbursements under the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
Speaking at a press conference on Monday, president of the association, Atul Srivastava, highlighted the financial distress faced by private unaided schools due to non-payment of dues, leaving many schools in debt or on the verge of closure.
“The govt has been paying only Rs 450 per student since 2013-14, without revising the amount or publishing per-student expenditure as required under Section 12(2) of the RTE Act. Schools cannot survive on this outdated reimbursement, while other states like Delhi and TN update payments based on actual costs,” Srivastava said.
