School warden gets 7-year rigorous imprisonment for boy’s sex abuse, ETEducation
Dehradun: Overturning a judicial magistrate’s verdict of two-year jail term in a 2011 case of a local boarding school warden being convicted for sexually abusing a 13-year-old Delhi boy, a court in Dehradun has increased it to seven years of rigorous imprisonment, ruling that “it is in the interest of justice”, reports Pankul Sharma.
The court of additional district judge Mahesh Chandra Kaushiva Thursday also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the convict. The crime took place in Nov 2011, when the boy was in Class VII.
In his police complaint, the boy’s father had stated that after the warden committed the act, his traumatised son ran almost 7km to an acquaintance’s house to seek help, and from there, he called his parents and narrated the ordeal.
He had enrolled his son at the Dehradun boarding school in Class V, and the incident took place when he returned to school after Diwali holidays, the father said.
