
Private school’s principal gets 20 years in jail for raping Class IV student, ETEducation
Jind: The fast-track court of additional district and sessions judge of Jind district has sentenced a school principal to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl.
ASJ Chander Hass also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on the convict. If he fails to pay up, he will have to spend more time in jail.
According to the prosecution, the rape survivor’s mother filed a complaint on Aug 10, 2024, alleging that her 10-year-old daughter was a Class IV student at a private school. The girl returned home with pain in her stomach and legs. When questioned, she revealed that the school principal molested her.
The girl told her parents that the principal, Yashpal, took her to the bathroom under the pretext of showing her the school’s new hall and sexually assaulted her. He threatened her not to tell anyone about the incident, the complaint read. The police registered a case against Yashpal under various sections of BNS, including 127(2) and 65(2), rape and wrongful confinement, and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Section 6. He was arrested, and the case was pending in court; the verdict was announced on Thursday.
The case came to light after the survivor returned home and initially remained silent about the incident. Later, when her parents began arguing with each other at home, the girl broke down and said that she had no peace anywhere, neither at school nor at home. When her parents asked her about the reason, she narrated the incident. Subsequently, the family approached the police and lodged a complaint.
