Classrooms, toilets opened at Madurai corporation schools, ETEducation
Madurai: Additional classroom and toilet buildings constructed at four primary schools in the city were inaugurated by minister for information technology and digital services Palanivel Thiagarajan on Monday.
The new buildings were constructed using the School Improvement Grant Infrastructure fund. At Velliveethiyar Corporation Girls Higher Secondary School, buildings were constructed at Rs 27 lakh while Rs 17 lakh were used for new buildings at SS Colony Corporation Primary School. Primary and middle schools at Melavasal and Aathimoolam Corporation Primary School received infrastructure constructed at Rs 33 lakh each.
The minister listed various development projects that were undertaken by Madurai corporation. Under the Namakku Naame Thittam, projects such as school improvements, park set-ups, public health centres, recreational and sports facilities, and tree planting drives were carried out, he said.
Corporation commissioner Chitra Vijayan was present.
