
Madras University in partnership with Samsung to train 5000 students in AI and coding, ETEducation
CHENNAI: University of Madras, in partnership with Samsung, will train 5,000 students in artificial intelligence, big data, internet of things (IoT), and coding. In the first batch, 50 students studying computer science, information technology, business administration, computer applications, and commerce will be trained in artificial intelligence.
The university launched the training programme, Samsung Innovation Campus, on Thursday. The AI programme will be offered for two months, with 270 hours of classroom training and 80 hours of a capstone project. IoT and big data will be offered for 240 hours: 160 hours of classroom training and 80 hours of project-based training. In coding and programming, students will receive 80 hours of training and three days for a hackathon.
“The courses are designed by Samsung’s global research and development team. These programmes are offered in 63 countries, and the certificates are globally acceptable,” said Ekansh Raj, senior manager, Electronics Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI), which will provide these certificate courses.
The university plans to expand these certificate courses to all branches of the university.”We are planning to train 500 students within the university departments. Samsung also offered support for the placement of these trained students. We will expand this to affiliated colleges,” said P S Manjula, dean, of students’ affairs, University of Madras.
Samsung Innovation Campus is expected to help build talent pipelines and prepare India’s youth for an innovation-driven future.
