Students vandalise college furniture in Gurgaon, cops start probe, ETEducation
Gurgaon: Students of govt polytechnic college in Nuh have landed in legal and disciplinary trouble after a video showing them smashing chairs and furniture on campus.
The clip, widely shared across platforms, showed vandalism inside the college premises, prompting police to contact the college administration and seek clarification. However, the college authorities have stated that the incident was staged and no functional college property was damaged.
The college principal said that the students had secretly entered the workshop scrapyard, an internal area used for storing condemned and unusable items, where they deliberately broke old chairs and scrap furniture to create a dramatic reel aimed at gaining social media views.
He said the video was “fake” as it falsely projected an act of real vandalism, while in reality the items destroyed had already been discarded and were no longer in use. The principal, however, termed the students’ conduct “highly reprehensible”, stressing that using the college’s name and premises for such stunts damages the institution’s reputation and creates unnecessary panic.
He confirmed that the matter has already been brought to the notice of the police and that the administration is actively working to identify all students involved in the incident.
