
12,000 teachers will be recruited in Karnataka: Minister, ETEducation
Shivamogga: Primary and secondary education minister Madhu Bangarappa on Saturday announced that 12,000 teachers will be appointed to overcome the shortage of teaching staff across the state.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a felicitation programme held at DVS Institution, where meritorious teachers from aided and unaided schools were honoured for their efforts in improving SSLC examination results, the minister said that around 900 Karnataka Public Schools (KPS) will be established during the next academic year.
He said that approval has already been granted for 500 KPS schools, with plans to add another 300 schools and 100 more to be funded by the minority departments. The detailed project report (DPR) is currently being prepared, and the tender process is in progress.
The minister also stressed the importance of introducing moral education in schools, stating that it would help inculcate respect for parents and elders among children and strengthen emotional values.
