School standards authority to be set up in Rajasthan, ETEducation
Jaipur: The school education department is preparing to set up a State School Standards Authority, which would oversee school operations across Rajasthan.
“This authority will monitor over 1 lakh govt and primary schools in the state, ensure student safety, and improve the quality of education. The authority will be established as per the guidelines and requirements of the National Education Policy 2020,” said a senior official.
The authority will also monitor school infrastructure, teacher qualifications, and safety protocols and may take key decisions regarding improving the quality of education, the official said.
A 27-member committee had recently been formed to ensure compliance with safety guidelines, monitor student-teacher ratios, and address other concerns within educational institutions. “The committee prepared a draft after studying school standards authorities constituted in various states. The decision on it will be finalised in upcoming meetings,” added the official.
A meeting was held Monday to discuss formation of such an authority in Rajasthan. The meeting, chaired by state project pirector for Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan, Anupama Jorwal, discussed the objective, need, and possible format of the authority.
