Teachers urge govt not to hold job exams in March, ETEducation
Jaipur: Govt school teachers Thursday wrote to the Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB) and Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) requesting that no recruitment exams be scheduled in March 2026, citing the early conduct of annual exams this year.
The teachers stated that the next academic session begins on April 1, and exams, answer sheet evaluations, and result declarations will take place in March. Consequently, holding recruitment exams during this period would make it difficult for teachers to be available for exam duties.
“In March, teachers will be busy conducting exams and preparing results by evaluating answer sheets. The commission should not conduct any competitive selection examination for any department in March 2026,” said Mahendra Pandey, chief general secretary of Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers’ Association.
The education department has proposed tentative dates for the start of board exams for Classes 10 and 12 in Feb, instead of March as scheduled earlier. The proposed dates for the board exams are from Feb 12 to March 12. Final exams for Classes 9 and 11 have been proposed from March 10 to March 25, instead of the earlier scheduled dates of April 23 to May 8.
Teachers have also suggested the education department finalise the dates at the earliest and submit them to the state election commission.
“Elections for urban local bodies are due, which are likely to be held in either Feb or March, when board exams and final exams for other classes will also be held. We have requested the department to finalise the dates and submit them to the election commission, so that both things can be planned accordingly, as polling booths are usually made in schools,” said Vipin Prakash Sharma, state president of Rajasthan Primary and Secondary Teachers Association.
