School playground turned into science lab, ETEducation
Bal Bharati Public School, Noida, turned its playground into a science lab with Khel Vigyaan: Physics in Every Move, an initiative under the Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra.
The event, designed for Classes IV and V, showcased how indigenous games can double up as tools to understand complex scientific principles. Students played Gallery Game, Langadi Tang, Tug of War, and Pithugram, linking each move to concepts such as balance, friction, force, and motion.
What set the session apart was the students themselves explaining the science behind the games to their peers, reinforcing that physics is not confined to textbooks but rooted in everyday activities and cultural practices.
The initiative drew keen participation from students of Classes III to V, combining fun with experiential learning. Teachers said the activity sparked curiosity and critical thinking, while also giving younger learners a hands-on way to explore problem-solving skills.
Part of the nationwide Anveshika Physics Bharat Yatra, the programme highlighted how traditional games can inspire scientific inquiry, encouraging children to discover that every move has science behind it.
