Mayor R Priya on Tuesday flagged off educational tours for Class 4 and 5 students of Chennai corporation schools at Ripon Building.

According to the GCC report, a total of 5,335 students from 130 schools will benefit from the initiative during the 2025–26 academic year. The tours will cover places such as Birla planetarium, Vandalur zoo, Periyar science park, ICF museum, police museum, Connemara library, Anna centenary library, Egmore museum, Valluvar Kottam, Marina Beach, and memorials of leaders, including Anna and Kalaignar.

The students will be taken in 97 MTC buses, with around 55 students per bus. Tours will be organized Monday to Friday.

On the first day, about 300 students from five schools visited six locations, including Birla planetarium and Valluvar Kottam.
