Saudi Arabia Expands University Facilities in Yemen’s Marib, ETEducation
The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has launched a new project to expand and develop the University of Saba Region in Marib, addressing critical challenges of overcrowding and classroom shortages.
The initiative includes the construction of two new buildings housing 16 classrooms and an administrative office, alongside the foundation for a new College of Medicine. Officials said the project is designed to meet the rising demand for higher education in the region and to equip Yemen’s health sector with qualified medical personnel.
University President Dr Mohammed Al-Qudsi welcomed the move, highlighting the SDRPY’s wider role in supporting education. He also noted the importance of a transportation project introduced under the programme, which has made it easier for female students to attend university.
The expansion forms part of SDRPY’s broader commitment to education, which has so far delivered 56 projects and initiatives across 11 Yemeni governorates, spanning general, higher, and vocational education.
