Calicut University VC selection hits roadblock as a senate nominee Dharmaraj Adat resigns, ETEducation
Kozhikode: Dharmaraj Adat, former vice-chancellor of Kalady Sanskrit University, who was elected by Calicut University senate as its nominee to the search and selection committee to pick a new VC for the varsity has resigned from the post.
The senate meeting held on Aug 23 elected Adat through voting, although UDF and BJP members proposed different names.
Syndicate member P Rasheed Ahammed alleged that Adat’s resignation from the selection committee was part of a conspiracy. In a letter to the chancellor, he demanded that the financial loss caused to the university by this move should be recovered from the syndicate member who nominated Adat.
He pointed out that the university spent around Rs 10 lakh to conduct the senate meeting held specifically for the purpose of selecting the senate nominee.
