Research Studies Of The Week

I often write about research studies from various fields and how they can be applied to the classroom. I write individual posts about ones that I think are especially significant, and will continue to do so. However, so many studies are published that it’s hard to keep up. So I’ve started writing a “round-up” of some of them each week or every other week as a regular feature.
You can see all my “Best” lists related to education research here.
Here are some new useful studies (and related resources):
I don’t agree about the research about student-teacher relationships being thin, but this study is important:
Quantitative evidence of the impact of teacher-student relationships on achievement is thin on the ground, so this paper on the positive benefits of “looping” (teaching the same class for more than one year) by @MatthewAKraft and colleagues is important: https://t.co/WbwvARAIqU

A big issue in reducing school exclusion is whether there’s a knock-on effect on student achievement. This study from Chicago Public Schools finds that restorative practices decreased suspensions and arrests, with no negative impact on student achievement: https://t.co/p7qLhw6OuW
