New guidelines issued for safety, discipline in Allahabad University hostels, ET Education
Prayagraj: A day after a surprise raid at GN Jha hostel and removing eight illegal inmates, the authorities of Allahabad University have issued fresh guidelines for all the AU hostels.
All hostel inmates ere informed that the university administration is firmly committed to maintain the safety, discipline, and academic atmosphere within the hostel premises, said the release. Strict measures are being implemented to check the unauthorised entry of outsiders and to strengthen surveillance and inspection mechanisms.
To support this initiative, surprise inspections of the hostel premises may be conducted by the Proctorial Board or the university authorities. During such inspections, if any unauthorised inmate is found without proper information or prior approval, their presence will be treated as an act of trespassing. Legal and disciplinary action will be initiated in such cases, which may include informing police and actions as per the relevant legal provisions.
Visitors will only be allowed entry into the hostel after completing certain formalities. They must be invited by a hostel resident, possess valid identification, and their details must be entered in the visitor register. Prior permission must also be obtained from the hostel superintendent. Moreover, visitors are permitted in the hostel premises only between 9:00am and 7:00pm. Overnight stays are strictly prohibited unless prior written approval is obtained from the hostel superintendent in cases of emergency.
Furthermore, it is strictly prohibited to allow students from other institutions, alumni, local acquaintances, or friends to stay in the hostel without prior approval. Hosting or hiding such individuals will be treated as a serious and punishable offence. In case of any emergency, students are advised to immediately contact the hostel superintendent or the office of the Proctorial Board. Any violation will be seen as a serious breach of conduct and an affront to the dignity of the institution, stated the AU administration directives.
