Jaipur: The education dept announced Thursday that 639 PM SHRI schools are being transformed into Centres of Excellence.
The dept also issued state-level rankings for all 639 PM SHRI schools which chief secretary V Srinivas reviewed.
The top five schools include PM SHRI Dhawa in Jodhpur district, PM SHRI Savar in Ajmer, PM SHRI Manpura Machedi in Jaipur, PM SHRI Jodhakiya in Hanumangarh, and PM SHRI Ringas in Sikar district.
These institutions will focus on ‘excellent management’ principles, ensuring students access practical learning environments and modern educational resources. Additionally, the initiative includes the operation of pre-primary classes in all designated schools.
Officials said that, as part of renovation in these schools, children’s gardens were developed, schools were provided with Ansh, Anmol, and Alok workbooks for students in primary classes, and child-friendly furniture in all 639 schools.
“Digital libraries were established in 500 PM SHRI schools across the state, and O-Labs in 142 schools. In the 2024-25 session, 2,492 science and mathematics kits were provided to 623 schools. The aim is to develop practical knowledge and employment-oriented understanding among students through educational and industrial exposure visits,” said a senior official.
As part of developing these schools as Centres of Excellence, residential training, activity-based learning kits, and innovation-based leadership training provided by IIM Udaipur are being given to teachers in PM SHRI schools.
“Constitution Rooms are also being established in all PM SHRI schools across the state to inculcate awareness of democratic values. Additionally, self-defence training and martial arts training are being provided to girls, and sanitary pad incinerator machines are being installed in 144 schools,” added the official.
